Scandinavian Meets Mid-Century Living Room

LAYERED, WARM MODERN LIVING

PHILADELPHIA, PA

CONCEPT PROJECT

This Scandinavian meets mid-century living room was designed as a concept project for a suburban home, blending warmth, simplicity, and intentional layering to create a space that feels both elevated and livable.

Grounded in a neutral palette, the design balances soft textures with clean lines to reflect a modern yet timeless aesthetic. A symmetrical furniture layout anchors the room, creating a sense of structure and ease while supporting both everyday living and larger gatherings. Two sofas and olive-toned accent chairs provide comfortable, inviting seating, while a lighter rug helps open the space and allow key pieces to stand out.

Materiality plays a central role in the design. A mix of light and mid-tone woods introduces warmth and depth, drawing from both Scandinavian minimalism and mid-century modern influences. Layered textiles, including subtle geometric patterns and linen finishes, add visual interest without overwhelming the space.

Lighting was thoughtfully considered to enhance both function and atmosphere. A sculptural pendant and textured floor lamp work together to create a soft, ambient glow, reinforcing the room’s relaxed and welcoming feel.

Designed to be both functional and personal, this living room reflects a balance of comfort, refinement, and individuality, creating a space that supports daily rituals while allowing room for meaningful moments and connection.
